I have amassed a collection of travel guide books and books about travel writing over my three-year stay here in Dubai. They are there to constantly remind me of my dream to see more of the world and hopefully write about them. Sadly, travelling still remains to be just a dream for several reasons: 1) Money matters. I have had to give up travelling on several occasions because I have had to fly back home to attend a friend's wedding or spend Christmas or my birthday. This year I had to give up my chance to ride a plane so my mom can ride one. 2) Visa issues. It's a perennial problem of Filipino passport holders. Hopefully, with the new job title in my visa, I can travel within the GCC sans the visa hassles.
I decided to live in Dubai as it is a great jump-off point for travelling. The fact that three years later, I haven't seen much is frustrating. I am here but I am stuck, something which can also be said about the state of affairs of other things. Ugh. It is frustrating because I am not used to sitting still - I am meant to roam (which by the way, if you rearrange the letters of roam, you get my name). I am hoping that all this patience will be worth it. Someday, I will have to pack Whiskers again and the camera will not just take pictures of food. Someday, I will get to open one of these books gathering dust on my shelf. Someday, I will find myself and know how it feels to be alive once again. For now, the only thing I can do is dream.
